OKD-10 – DYNAMIC LOWER LIMB RAISING LEG ORTHOSIS

Description

HEMIPARESIS

Hemiparesis, otherwise known as hemiplegia, is the is weakness or the inability to move on one side of the body, making it hard to perform everyday activities like eating or dressing. Both the muscles of the lower and upper limbs are affected, as well as weakness of the trunk. One-sided weakness in arms, hands, face, chest, legs or feet can cause a loss of balance, difficulty in walking, inability to grasp objects, decreasing of movement precision and lack of coordination. The most common ‘congenital’ cause of hemiplegia is cerebral palsy and the ‘acquired’ cause is a stroke. Where brain injury occurred it will determine the location of your weakness. Damage to the left side of the brain, which controls language and speech, can cause right-sided weakness. Left-sided weakness results from damage to the right side of the brain, which controls non-verbal communication.
In addition to extensive pharmacology, the most common method of reducing the effects of paralysis and improving patients’ quality of life is rehabilitation, which aims to globally improve the patient’s functioning. Along with active physiotherapy exercises, it is worth using the OKD-10 dynamic lower limb raising leg orthosis, which restores the physiological mobility of the limb and makes it easier for the patient to move. The orthosis is ideal as an aid in the motor rehabilitation of patients not only with a problem of muscle paralysis, but also with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s or in any case that makes it difficult for the patient to move independently

Product’s description:

OKD-10 dynamic lower limb raising leg orthosis is an innovative device which helps to raise the leg during walking even for people with high limited mobility. During gait, when the lower limb is momentarily relieved, the OKD-10 orthosis helps to raise the leg, allowing to easily take the next step.

OKD-10 dynamic lower limb raising leg orthosis consists of universal carrying belt, dynamic thigh system, patellar strap and dynamic foot lifting system.

Carrying belt is equipped with universal system of setting the tighten and compression and rear circumferential adjustment.

The internal part of the belt is covered with skin friendly fabric SoftComfort™. This solution allows to skin breath.

The back of the belt is a thermoformed lightweight pad that provides an excellent point of support and helps the wearer maintain an upright posture during gait.

The dynamic thigh system consists of a set of springs to facilitate flexion of the knee, an attachment buckle with adjuster and a stiffened knee stirrup. The springs allow active raising of the lower limb during gait, even in users with severe muscle weakness or stiffness.

The springs are covered with a special pressure relieving ActivePren™ material, which eliminates the risk of pressure on the skin and ensures comfort. Thanks to its high elasticity, the material interacts perfectly with the springs and does not restrict their freedom of movement.

The additional stiffening of the knee stirrup helps to keep the knee joint in alignment and ensures precision of movement. This solution enables the user to maintain the correct gait pattern.

The knee stirrup has been coated with the high-quality technical raw material PowerLift™, which is extremely resistant to any mechanical damage.

The thigh part, together with the knee stirrup, is assembled to the patellar strap by means of an attachment clamp. This strap is lined with non-slip silicone, which prevents it from moving during use.

A dynamic rubber band is fitted to the patellar strap to effectively elevate the foot and facilitate movement during gait.

The innovative design of the OKD-10 dynamic lower limb raising leg orthosis makes it easier for the user to move around even with severe muscle weakness and muscle stiffness. The orthosis works alternately on both legs, facilitates knee flexion and foot movement during gait.

The orthosis is very effective medical device. Very simple construction allows to use it under the clothing, so it makes the brace ‘invisible’ to other people.

This lower limb orthosis OKD-10 is an excellent solution for people that need support during walking, because of neurological or other conditions.

The OKD-10 dynamic lower limb raising leg orthosis is universal device and can be used for both legs. If it is necessary is it possible to use it without patellar strap with our standard knee braces.

OKD-10 dynamic orthosis rising the leg is an excellent support in rehabilitation process with standing frames.

Purpose of use:

  • neurological disorders
  • rheumatological diseases
  • post-injury conditions
  • birth defects

Technology

MATERIALS

Active3D™

Active3D™ is thermoformed fabric made of special foamed, cell-closed designed material. It reduces the pressure on the body or any abrasions made by orthopaedic stays and aluminum splints. It is fully waterproof fabric and does not absorb sweat. It’s easy to clean. Due to its features, the fabric is an excellent product for making medical orthopaedic braces and orthoses. ACTIVE 3D™ has various external self-gripping layers. Our material has special, thermoformed properties and may be shaped according to the functional goals of the final braces.

ActivePren™

ActivePren™ is an active three-layer material consisting of two elastic jersey cover fabrics and a core made of neoprene foam. This material is characterized by softness and high flexibility. A very important advantage of this material is the fact that it is not a knitted product, it does not have thick fibers, so that the weaves of the material do not imprint on the patient's skin and do not cause abrasionsin places of high compression. Products made of ActivePren are the strongest and most effective stabilizing orthoses available on the market.

AirRubber III™

AirRubber III™ has unidirectional elasticity. It can be stretched, increasing the length, not width, what improves compression. Between the braids air flows freely and skin can breathe. In addition in high compression, these rubber braids provide a gentle massage for skin. Our orthopedic rubber is very friendly for skin.

PowerLift™

PowerLift™ is an off-loading raw material with a three-layer structure. It consists of a very strong outer fabric, highly abrasion-resistant made of polyamide with a polyurethane coating with Teflon finish, relieving EVA foam and a soft cover knit. Waterproof material.

SoftComfort™

SoftComfort™ - a material specially designed to relieve very delicate places on the patient's body. The cover knit used in the production is made in such a way that it can come into contact with very sensitive skin. This raw material has the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate and complies with the European REACH standard. The structure of the material consists of a very soft comfort foam laminated with a delicate cover knit. The fabric has a perforation that facilitates the flow of air through the material and allows the skin to breathe. The SoftComfort™ material is perfect for the production of linings relieving the rigid and inflexible elements of orthopedic orthoses.

STIFFENINGS

Knee element with a tensioner

The knee element with a tensioner is made of a specially shaped and galvanized thin steel tube, to which a tensioner and a knee band are attached. The tensioner has also been galvanized and consists of two clamps and a set of specially selected and designed long-stroke tension parts.

PADDINGS

3D supports

3D relief supports are independent technical solutions to relieve the rigid elements of a given orthosis. These elements are made of supporting foams or EVA foam. These foams are connected with various types of skin-friendly materials and materials with an adhesive function. These pads have the appropriate shape and color adapted to the type of orthosis. They relieve both metal elements of orthoses, such as splints, stays, underwires and orthopedic drop locks, as well as other elements that should not come into direct contact with the patient's skin. These pads have an anatomical shape and are made of comfortable foam with proper hardness and elasticity, guaranteeing the proper therapeutic effect.
