The cushion allows the correct positioning of the lower limbs in a slight bend while lying down. The wedge protects the user from the formation of adduction contractures in the hip joints and reduces the risk of bedsores on the medial side of the lower limbs. It helps to maintain the correct supine position by controlling the legs position, preventing them from crossing. The cushion also prevents the formation of hyperextensions in the knee joints.
It is highly recommended for the bedridden patients. It can be successfully used in both the supine and semi-reclining position, e.g. in post-operative therapy.
Using the cushion reduces the overstraining of the lumbar spine, improves the circulation and reduces the risk of the swelling of the lower limbs.
Usage:
• used together with the lateral positioning cushion (P-SS-08) helps to put the user in the Semi-Fowler’s position, where the pelvis and lower back are at 30°.
• together with the universal pillow (P-SS-31) helps to put the user in the anti-bedsore position while lying on the back.
