ANKLE SYNDESMOSIS <\/strong><\/p>\n

Ankle syndesmosis is a ligamentous joint, which is an extra joint located just at the ankle. The tibia and fibula fuse together to form a tight joint. The joint has little mobility, but it is essential for proper movement and mobility.<\/p>\n

During activity, a ligamentous sprain, or so-called \u2018high\u2019 ankle sprain, can occur. This injury involves the ligaments that bind the distal tibia and fibula at the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis.
