Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bones, making them brittle and more prone to fracture. It develops slowly over several years and is often only diagnosed after a fall or sudden impact causing a bone fracture visible on an X-ray.

Bones naturally become weaker with age, but women are particularly vulnerable to osteoporosis after the menopause because their ovaries no longer produce the oestrogen hormones that help maintain bone mass.

The ARTUS active corrective spinal orthosis is designed to correct the spine and improve mobility. The orthosis has a positive effect on gait and stability in people suffering from osteoporotic spinal compression fracture.

The ARTUS TLSO back orthosis is made of an anatomically shaped aluminum-alloy back panel, abdominal strap, elastic supports and a functional waistcoat that provides additional stabilization and compression.

The anatomically shaped aluminum-alloy panel covers the entire spine: from the sacral region to the cervical-thoracic transition. It reflects the physiological curvature of the spine and provides professional stabilization. By keeping the spine in the correct position, it reduces pressure in the intervertebral spaces and reduces the risk of vertebral fractures.

The back support is made of lightweight aluminum-alloy can be individually adapted to the user’s therapeutic needs. The orthosis can be adjusted even for advanced and severe kyphotic spinal deformities. During systematic use and improvement of the user’s posture, the panel can be readjusted to the current curvature of the spine.

The wide wrap-around adjustment of the abdominal belt and the waistcoat providing additional compression effectively increase abdominal pressure and strengthen the important abdominal muscles.
