OSTOMY

Ostomy is the connection between the urinary or digestive system and abdominal skin. An ostomy may be necessary due to birth defects, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and other medical conditions when natural way of excretion is impossible. An ostomy can be temporary or permanent.

There are 3 types of ostomy:
– colostomy – connection between the colon (large intestine) and skin
– ileostomy – a surgically created opening from the ileum which is brought through the abdominal wall to form a stoma
– urostomy – connection between urinary system and skin

When the surgical procedure is performed, the ‘ostomy bag’ on the outside of the body is the most commonly associated with. The bag is called also a ‘pouching system’. The bags do not lower life expectancy but they may limit the daily activities. To avoid that we launched an ostomy belt OT-14 for perfect ostomy pouch compression and stabilization. Our belt also makes the ostomy invisible to others.

Product’s description

Ostomy belt OT-14 is inspired by nature. We wanted to create unique brace which will reflect a human’s skin properties. Its high resistance protects internal tissues and organs. The skin is soft, flexible and resistant to stretching. It works exactly as our innovative abdominal belt OT-14.

The thickness of the belt is similar to skin. This solution provides natural, physiological cooperation between belt and body. Softness and flexibility of the fabric maintains gentle but effective compression.

The OT-14 ostomy support belt is made of innovative ProFit fabric.

Also, our ostomy belt OT-14 is made of breathable knitted spacer fabric 3D. There is possible to cut off the whole for stoma and ostomy bag. The 3D fabric provides perfect compression and stabilization of the stoma and pouch. In addition, there is useful pocket which covers the ostomy bag and makes it invisible for other people. When you need to clean your stoma or change the bag, you open the pocket simply without taking the belt off.

The belt OT-14 provides gentle and constant compression of abdominal cavity. Our OT-14 belt provides compression but doesn’t limit the breathing. It is elastic but resistant to stretching at the same time. Due to this fact, the belt keeps the anatomic shape and provides effective compression and support for a long period of time.

MATERIALS

ActiveSpace™

ActiveSpace™ is a spacer, polyamide 3D lamination with high skin ventilation. It is very lightweight, consisted of 2 layers. Between them, we use polyamide braids. ActiveSpace™ is not elastic what improves stabilization. Inside the lamination, between 2 layers, the air flows freely, maintaining minimal water and moisture absorption. Waterproof material.

ProFit™

ProFit™ is a double-layer fabric that is elastic in all directions and fits to limb precisely. The external side is made of spandex providing excellent compression and absorbs muscle shocks in physical activity. The internal side consists of microfibre, cotton and elastane what makes it skin-friendly, breathable and provides velvet softness. ProFit™ is friendly and neutral for the skin and has Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate. In some products this material can have an internal elastic cotton layer.

STIFFENINGS

Orthopedic stays from ABS

Orthopedic stays available in various width, thickness and shapes are cut from ABS boards. Their role is not to stiffen the orthosis in order to support a joint or other part of the body, but to prevent wrinkling and uncontrolled movement of the fabrics of the orthosis./p>

Stiffeners of thin ABS

Stiffeners made of a thin ABS plate are very light and protect the correct shape of the brace, but do not stiffen individual parts of the patient's body. The brace has the correct circumferential shape, but does not have the compensating and stiffening function of the protected joints and other protected parts of the body.
